August 6th Update

One more radiation treatment to go! As of next Tuesday I will have no more radiation and will be off chemo for at least 2 weeks. The next big health date is August 18th when I will have an MRI to see how effective the process has been so far. I will get the results the next day, Friday the 19th.

The next really big date however is this Friday the 12th. The boys, John, Sam, Todd and I head to someplace just west of the Mississippi River to go to a couple of baseball games. For the past 10 years or so we have gone to a different major league stadium. This year we are going to see an arch, brewery, and what some call a major league team. And the rule is we have to cheer for the home team. So far the chemo has not made me sick but cheering for the team that plays in the shadow of the arch, might.

Yesterday I had my scheduled appointment with my oncologist. The blood work was all "right on target" and everything still seems to be going according to plan.

I got out this morning and ran the slowest 5 miles in modern history. However it was good to be out there getting it done. Hopefully I can follow it up with another one tomorrow.

I am really looking forward to Tuesday.

Thanks for caring.

  1. Good work on the five miles. I just noticed we are less than 100 days to race day. Guess it is time to start training by calling Humana on Monday.

Hey if you're in St. Louis aren't you within 100 miles of the world's second larget ball of string? Just a thought. Don't forget to send pictures - the ones which are non-compromising.

  3. Wonderful news, again! Your slow 5 mile run was probably at least 5 times the speed of mine.

Have a wonderful time in St Louis! Be sure to post on fb! If Bob W. can do it, so can you.

Will be thinking of you during your last treatment. Yea!

  4. Thank you for the comment about our new daughter, Caroline Shea. She is healthy and doing well. Her mother is adjusting to life with a baby again, but Shea is healthy otherwise. I am glad to hear some of the treatment is near the end. It sounds like things are going well.

Great job on the five miles. This coming Friday I play in a basketball game in a church league. I have enot played competive basketball for a few years now. On Saturday I am scheduled to run in a 15k. We will see how Friday goes and then make a determination on Saturday.

Gretchen, Chris and Jennifer ran 2.5 miles this weekend. They are well on their way.

Your brother needs to start training if he is going to run, however first he needs to have and MRI on his knee. Maybe you can convince him.

    Our prayers are with you.
