The blog is back (damn it)

Just to catch you up a little bit, I have gone for 2 years with no problems. Every month we go to Duke for a vaccination and every other month I get an MRI. Well 2 months ago the MRI revealed some changes in the area where the tumor was originally. A PET scan was done and it was determined that whatever this was it was not cancer. 2 months later and another MRI showed that whatever this is has grown significantly. So, a week from tomorrow we leave for Duke and I am scheduled to have a second surgery on Tuesday 9/10. Going into the surgery 2 years ago, everyone was pretty sure it was cancer. I think there is at least some question this time. That said, whatever it is it needs to come out. The only thing left to do now is set a goal post surgery. Well, the Louisville half marathon worked last time, so why not shoot for it again? I have already paid my entry fee and have maintained my base mileage, so even if it just a couple of months away, I think I can do it. Stay tuned and once again thank you for caring.

  1. Bill, got your text forwarded from Steve. Damn it...just about sums it up! Have not been keeping my mileage up...so I can only cheer from the sidelines. Sounds familiar. Still swimming and biking though. Also a little distracted with getting work and helping Carol get her handicap down. Amazing...she took a lesson and found that the pro was telling her what I'd been telling her. Well shut my mouth...the husband might sound like he knows what he's talking about....but when it comes from . Ha! Carol and I will be thinking about ya and praying for you as you go through this process (damn it) once again. Saying Damn it..feels good! Likewise...we've all got your back!

  2. Damn it is right. Damn it, Bill, I keep on trying to retire from running -- and you keep coming up with these half marathons to run. I thought I'd retired 8 years ago until you came up with the 2011 run. And I've only run a few dozen times since then -- so I've got a lot of work to do to get ready for the Nov 10 run in Louisville! I hope to be ready to go stride for stride with you again. As far as I'm concerned, Chris can have your back. I want to stay right by your side.

In addition to my new running regimen, please know I'll be thinking of you and praying for you daily. All the best, Cliff
